We have an exciting opportunity for a Communication Specialist to join our growing team

Location: Mississauga
Schedule: 1-2 days/week

In this role, you will:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (PT/OT/SLPA) for Lifemark's Community Step Up Program and develop a collaborative approach to care for clients and their caregivers
  • Help individuals with a range of disorders related to communication, speech, and swallowing
  • Provide specialized testing and therapy designed for individual clients' needs
  • Deliver treatments as per the treatment plan and adjust when needed
  • Assist stroke victims, paraplegics, and those who have become deaf or hard of hearing to help normalize their communication patterns
  • Support patients who have been in accidents or other traumatic incidents in learning or relearning proper swallowing techniques
  • Provide therapy and support to patients' families to facilitate social integration and recovery
  • Abide by the standards of practice as set out by the professional college in practicing communication therapy, and in all aspects of assessing and treating clients
  • The Communication Specialist will be assigned a caseload based on referrals received from hospitals, home and community, primary care, and other healthcare providers

Qualifications:

  • Registration with the College of Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
  • Community experience is an asset
  • Availability to work flexible hours
  • A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check
  • Bilingualism is preferred
