About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Java Engineer to join our team at Aequilibrium Software Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for integrating and extending the Backbase digital banking platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-quality Java code for the Backbase platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver compelling products and services.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and managing deadlines.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of our development processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 7+ years of production-level experience in Java.
  • Strong understanding of SOAP and RESTful Web Services, XML, JSON, and RAML.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and unit testing using JUnit.
  • Knowledge of application servers like Tomcat, WebSphere, Weblogic, or JBoss.
  • Strong grasp of Git, Subversion, and other source control technologies.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Integration Patterns and frameworks like Apache Camel.
  • Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with security and systems that handle sensitive data.
  • Good knowledge of SQL.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with credit unions or banks and integrating/tailoring digital banking platforms.
  • Experience with or knowledge of Agile Methodology, such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Knowledge of Test Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI).
  • Web Application Security (OWASP) and best practices for writing secure code.
  • Persistence frameworks like Hibernate.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
  • Databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, or NoSQL.
