The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in the healthcare team, working under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. This dynamic professional collaborates with clients, caregivers, and families to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.
The Occupational Therapist provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services within the hospital, client's home, and community settings. This role requires establishing individualized treatment plans and goals, managing a busy caseload, and utilizing clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize daily issues.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are essential for this position. The Occupational Therapist educates and supports clients, families, and caregivers, functioning as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and an interprofessional hospital and/or community healthcare team.
This role contributes to the clinical education of occupational therapy students and related health disciplines, as well as supervision of occupational therapy assistants. The Occupational Therapist adheres to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and professional standards of their licensing body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia.
About YouWe seek a highly skilled and dedicated professional with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy
- Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
- Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
- Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
This is a permanent full-time position with a 100% FTE, 75 hours biweekly. The successful candidate will be compensated at a rate of $42.89 per hour.
