Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineering professional to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a Junior Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for performing structural analysis, seismic qualification, and assessment, as well as preparing engineering design calculations for structural systems.

About the Role

  • Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification, and assessment of structural systems.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry elements.
  • Analyze structural systems and elements using Analysis Software programs.
  • Support engineers in preparing design documents and compiling engineering packages.
  • Assist in timely and quality project delivery.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Engineers in day-to-day engineering activities and coordination.
  • Develop conceptual design, preliminary design, and detailed design.
  • Prepare technical specification documents.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of engineering deliverables.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to assigned engineering activities.
  • Comply with applicable QA procedures and produce quality work.
  • Deliver technical engineering deliverables/task within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Perform walk-downs and inspections.
  • Assist the Team Lead in work plans and deliverables, ensuring adequacy of scopes, budgets, and schedules.

Requirements

  • Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University with 4-7 years industry experience.
  • Licensed or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in-Training in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada.
  • Knowledge of Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering.
  • Knowledge of modification processes of Nuclear Power Plants.
  • Sound knowledge of basic Civil/Structural Engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards (CSA) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of MathCAD is an asset.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a dynamic team-oriented environment.
  • Experience working in a project environment is an asset.
  • Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
  • Must demonstrate effective organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and analytical aptitude.
  • Must have working knowledge of NBCC, CSA, and other applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Self-motivated and able to seek practical solutions to engineering problems.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing environment with conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to manage work effectively under tight schedules and budgets.
  • Good oral and written communication skills is a minimum requirement.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
