At API Delevan, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of field service activities on installed-based critical power systems.

Job Summary:

The primary job duties of the Field Service Technician will include:

  1. Start-up, testing, commissioning, preventative maintenance, upgrades, and modernization on low and medium voltage switchgear as well as automatic transfer switches using specified test equipment.
  2. Assist in a wide variety of highly technical and complex duties related to installation, troubleshooting, service, and repair of paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches, control systems, and/or mechanical equipment at customer locations.
Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Developing and managing predictive and preventative maintenance programs for our installed-based customers in Vancouver and surrounding areas.
  2. Performing all aspects of assigned field service work, including site investigation, equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of power distribution, control, and automation systems.
  3. Completing assigned project field activities on time and meeting customer functional requirements.
  4. Working in close collaboration and cooperation with the local field service office and API Delevan, Inc. headquarters.
  5. Building, developing, and maintaining exemplary customer and vendor relationships while maintaining a high level of quality and technical service.
  6. Tracking and submitting project reports in a timely manner (Field Reports and Expenses).
  7. Adhering to written standard testing and maintenance procedures for breaker, switchgear, relay, control, and automation equipment testing.
  8. Supporting Technical Training programs for customers, partners, and employees on new and existing products.
  9. Ensuring all corporate policy and values are foundational in the culture of the Langley office, including health and safety, integrity, responsibility, diversity and inclusion, customer success, innovation with purpose, continuous improvement, performance, and passion to win.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  1. Hands-on experience in preventative and predictive maintenance of power distribution and generation systems, and control equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Red Seal certified Industrial Electrician or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering.
  3. Self-directed learner motivated and driven to take initiative towards their education and development in electrical power and distribution field services.
  4. Basic understanding of Generator/AVR controls and synchronization/paralleling theory.
  5. General computer skills, including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and OneNote, as well as ability to use an Android or iPhone to perform daily work tasks.
  6. Demonstrated ability to interpret electrical schematics & drawings.
  7. High level of attention to detail with a strong ability to implement.
  8. Excellent customer service skills, with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  10. 50-75% Travel required, with customers having scheduled maintenance, emergency travel can come up but is not common, including both domestic and international travel.
  11. Valid Driver's License required.
