Job Title: Stock Preparation Supervisor

Kap Paper Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Stock Preparation Supervisor to oversee the stock preparation processes for daily newsprint production from mechanically ground chips.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to operations crews to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of stock preparation equipment and newsprint operation.
  • Reduce direct costs by implementing cost-saving measures and improving operations.
  • Establish and maintain staffing of the Stock Preparation Department by overseeing scheduling and managing vacation.
  • Manage the preparation of pulp, white water, dye, and bleach reliably.
  • Continuously improve the capability, efficiency, and resources of stock preparation processes.
  • Designate equipment and prioritize maintenance, formulating plans for effective repairs.
  • Ensure all training manuals are up-to-date.
  • Conduct monthly safety, environmental, and JHSC audits, following up on any issues.
  • Ensure all process equipment is in operational condition, consistent with good economics.
  • Identify operations crew training and developmental needs.
  • Support other areas within the Newsprint Manufacturing Group.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of paper mill/pulp mill practices.
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial unionized environment.
  • Business acumen, sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Bilingual: English and French (spoken and written) – an asset.
