Job Summary:
Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (La commission scolaire du Nunavik) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Technician to join our team. As a Special Education Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in our Nunavik communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with physical or mental disabilities, social maladjustments, or learning difficulties by applying special education techniques and methods.
- Work closely with regular teachers, special education teachers, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
- Provide one-on-one support to students, modifying instructional activities to meet their needs and abilities.
- Participate in regular evaluation sessions to provide feedback on student progress to staff members and parents.
- May be required to assist students with physical needs, such as dressing, eating, and traveling to and from school.
Requirements:
- College Diploma in Special Education.
- Experience working with special needs children.
- Fluency in two of the three languages of the board (Inuktitut, English, and French).
- Ability to work closely with other staff members and school board personnel.
- Problem-solving skills and adaptability to different situations.
- Behaviour management skills.
- Experience working in Nunavik (asset).
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time regular position with a 35-hour workweek from Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, providing support to students with diverse needs.
