Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for installing tiles, including ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone, to create beautiful and functional surfaces. This is a physically demanding role that requires attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare surfaces for tiling by cleaning, measuring, and marking them.
- Mix and apply adhesives, mortars, and other materials to ensure a strong bond between tiles and surfaces.
- Set tiles in place, aligning and straightening them to ensure a professional finish.
- Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools.
- Instruct apprentices and provide guidance on tiling techniques and best practices.
- Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout to create a seamless finish.
- Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles to maintain the integrity of the surface.
- Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural, and floor designs.
- Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires, and brackets to support heavy loads.
- Cut, surface, polish, and install marble and granite to create stunning surfaces.
- Mix, lay, and polish terra surfaces to create durable and low-maintenance finishes.
- Install tile strips to create a seamless transition between surfaces.
- Physically demanding role requiring manual labor and heavy lifting.
- Handling heavy loads and working at heights.
- Bending, crouching, and kneeling to access and work on surfaces.
- Attention to detail and hand-eye coordination to ensure a professional finish.
- Large workload and ability to work under pressure.
- Accurate and reliable with a strong attention to detail.
- Client-focused and able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Dependable and reliable with a strong work ethic.
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in tile installation.
- Permanent full-time position with 40 hours per week.
- Language of work: English.
