Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Director, Real Estate. As a key member of our Commercial Banking group, you will be responsible for leading the development and management of a portfolio of commercial real estate clients, with a primary focus on providing lending solutions for low-rise and high-rise residential real estate projects, as well as income-producing real estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver on financing requests to assist with income-producing real estate, predevelopment, land servicing, and construction costs for low-rise and high-rise residential projects, including large, complex syndicated transactions;
  • Oversee loan structuring and maintain responsibility for quality of credit underwriting;
  • Mentor and coach Associate Directors in deal structuring, negotiation skills, lending guidelines, policies, and risk appetite, profitability requirements;
  • Proactively maintain the health and integrity of accounts from a portfolio quality management perspective;
  • Through long-term strategic planning with clients, maintain an ongoing sales pipeline of real estate transactions and identify opportunities where the bank can support our clients through platforms outside of real estate financing;
  • Develop and maintain a strong external network in the commercial real estate community, including lending syndicate partners, law firms, cost consultants, etc.
Requirements
  • Previous real estate lending experience;
  • Proven track record in sales and business development and exceptional client relationship management;
  • Superior negotiation skills supported by deep industry expertise;
  • Excellent credit structuring and underwriting skills, and strong background of project budget and financial statement analysis;
  • Strong computer skills (especially Microsoft Word and Excel);
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • Must be an independent worker and team player with a positive attitude;
  • Motivated proactive thinker with detail-oriented and creative problem-solving approach;
  • Ability to quickly develop a working knowledge of programs and systems employed by the bank;
  • Ongoing and consistent adoption of the bank's goals and core values.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, CFA, or CPA;
  • Experience leading large, complex syndicated transactions.
