About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Construction Assistant to join our team at DSG HOMES AND CONSTRUCTION INC. as a key member of our construction crew.

Key Responsibilities
  • Load, Unload, and Transport Materials: Assist in the movement of construction materials, equipment, and supplies to and from the construction site.
  • Erect and Dismantle Forms and Scaffolding: Help set up and take down concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades as required.
  • Mix, Pour, and Spread Materials: Assist in the preparation and application of materials such as concrete and asphalt.
  • Support Medical Examiner: Provide assistance to the medical examiner as needed.
  • Demolish Buildings: Assist in the safe and controlled demolition of buildings.
  • Clean and Pile Salvaged Materials: Help clean and organize salvaged materials for reuse or disposal.
  • Clean Up Chemical Spills: Assist in the cleanup of chemical spills and other contaminants.
  • Remove Rubble and Debris: Help remove rubble and other debris from the construction site.
  • Tend to Equipment: Assist in the operation and maintenance of construction equipment.
  • Direct Traffic: Help direct traffic at or near the construction site.
Requirements
  • Willingness to Travel: Be willing to travel to various construction sites as required.
  • Physical Demands: Work in a fast-paced environment with physically demanding tasks, tight deadlines, and repetitive tasks.
  • Manual Dexterity: Possess manual dexterity and be able to handle heavy loads.
  • Weight Handling: Be able to lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs) as required.
  • Personal Suitability: Demonstrate client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, reliability, and a team player attitude.
  • Experience: Have 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
  • Language: Be proficient in English as the primary language of communication.
  • Work Schedule: Work 40 hours per week as required.
