Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is a world-class healthcare provider seeking a skilled High-Risk Nurse Specialist to join its esteemed team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC.

Job Summary:

  • Provide expert nursing care to high-risk critically ill clients with unpredictable outcomes attached to life-support equipment, and/or clients in post-anaesthetic recovery
  • Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the client/family
  • Consult, confer, and collaborate with other healthcare providers
  • Demonstrate expertise and leadership in nursing practice
  • Maintain and advance clinical competence
  • Participate on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive care plans for high-risk clients
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and promote optimal patient outcomes
  • Utilize advanced clinical skills and knowledge to provide exceptional patient care
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to high-risk care
  • Participate in education and training programs to enhance clinical skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to high-risk client groups
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement comprehensive care plans
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities, and deal with conflict
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing)
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
