Financial Counselling Specialist

Program Overview:
WoodGreen's Financial Empowerment Program serves to prevent, reduce, and alleviate poverty by addressing financial barriers in the lives of our clients. We provide free and unbiased financial counselling, education, and tax filing support to Torontonians living on a low income.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement service plans with clients based on their goals.
- Undertake financial benefits eligibility assessments and help clients apply for government benefits and income support.
- Problem solve and advocate for clients who have been denied government support.
- Prepare income tax returns and T1 adjustments.
- Maintain accurate case notes and records.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in social work.
- Registered Social Worker (RSW) in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
- 2+ years of case management experience and 2+ years of experience working or volunteering in a community-based setting or the not-for-profit sector.
- Financial Counsellor Accreditation is considered an asset.
What Sets You Apart:
- Experience providing income support case work and/or financial problem solving to clients.
- Demonstrated knowledge of provincial and federal income supports and benefits.
- Demonstrated knowledge of debt and credit management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian income tax system.
