We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Critical Environments Specialist to join our team at BMO Financial Group. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and implement infrastructure solutions to ensure maximum availability, reliability, and efficiency of our critical environments.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for providing operational support and resolving complex issues related to critical infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement solutions based on a deep understanding of business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the operations team on the implementation of solutions.
  • Conduct independent analyses and evaluations to resolve strategic problems.
  • Support the implementation of strategic initiatives, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in setting business priorities and the order of execution of the strategy.
  • Ensure consistency among stakeholders.
  • Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
  • Lead or participate in the development of a communication plan designed to have a positive influence or modify behavior; create personalized messages and choose the distribution channels.
  • Formulate comments on the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Ensure the safe operation of integrated infrastructure support systems (e.g., electrical and mechanical systems, uninterruptible power supplies, backup generators, hydroelectric power, HVAC, fire detection and suppression systems, power monitoring systems) and immovable systems to meet commitments on availability.
  • Inspect infrastructure support systems, facilities, and infrastructure and evaluate their performance to predict necessary repairs and maintenance; perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Identify problems and investigate to determine causes; perform minor repairs, record work done, call on internal resources or external service providers, and resolve problems or report them to the manager; ensure communication with management and key stakeholders.
  • Respond to requests and concerns from building occupants and resolve issues related to the installation.
  • Focus primarily on a business unit or group within BMO; adopt a broader orientation within the organization as needed.
  • Exercise judgment to identify problems, determine causes, and resolve them within established limits.
  • Work independently on a wide range of complex tasks that may represent unique situations.
  • Larger tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements:

  • Generally four to six years of relevant professional experience with a post-secondary diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering or trade certification (optional, not required), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in electrical or mechanical engineering related to building infrastructure design, preferably in a critical environment or in the financial services sector.
  • Strong experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, architectural planning and design for high-availability data centers, construction methods, cost estimation, and fire prevention; experience in providing emergency support.
  • Good understanding of environmental requirements for computer equipment, data transmission, business process equipment, and all systems within continuous production environments, risks associated, and possible repercussions.
  • Experience in analyzing project-related documents, formulating comments, and creating systems that meet organizational requirements.
  • Practical knowledge of construction standards, regulations, facility management, operation, health and safety, and sector standards for planning, technical design, and installation of essential systems.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial processes, operation, and policies, procedures, and verification requirements for construction contracts.
  • Experience with project management tools and methods.
  • Basic understanding of risk and regulatory requirements, policies, and best practices within financial institutions.
  • Technical mastery acquired through education or work experience.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be calculated on a pro-rata basis of regular working hours. For roles with commissions, the mentioned salary represents BMO Financial Group's target for the first year in the role.

The total compensation offered by BMO may include performance bonuses, discretionary bonuses, and other benefits and rewards.
