Job Title: Project Coordinator, Indigenous Health

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Coordinator to join our team at BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS). The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating projects related to the Community Paramedicine agenda, including knowledge exchange, information dissemination, and education for internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the execution of projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently, adhere to project protocols, and meet institutional and ethical policies and procedures.
  • Identify, collect, and analyze relevant information relating to current projects, providing input and recommendations to the Executive Director, Strategic Planning, and project/program team.
  • Assist with the dissemination of information and knowledge related to projects and key programs and initiatives through various vehicles to internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Support the management and facilitation of time-limited projects and programs to identify best practice-grounded strategies and activities for health professionals in relation to Community Paramedicine quality initiatives.
  • Coordinate the implementation of approved recommendations resulting from research, best practice, and policy reviews.
  • Provide assistance to evaluative and special projects within the Department, liaising with external partners, developing evaluative surveys, and supporting special initiatives.

Requirements:

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years recent related experience or equivalent work-related experience in a health, social services, government, or community organization.
  • Knowledge of research, quality improvement, and clinical practices relevant to the service/program area; health systems and policy; and knowledge exchange.
  • Understanding of and practical skills in project coordination/management, research, and evaluation.
  • Relevant computer software applications, including desktop publishing, web content management, accreditation portal software, and internet search engines.
  • Related experience in conducting literature searches and reviews, best practice reviews, policy analysis, and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Qualities including creativity, innovation, sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment, negotiation, conflict management, and consensus-building skills.

Indigenous Cultural Safety and Diversity:

  • Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts, supported by significant knowledge of Canadian and Indigenous ideologies, including Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, Indigenous-specific racism, and anti-racism.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Site Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
  • Works collaboratively with Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Salary Range: $62,239 - $89,469

Typical Hiring Range: $62,239 - $73,909

The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.
