About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Kitchen Helper at Sushi Modo. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food preparation and service areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sanitation
    • Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to maintain a high level of hygiene and food safety.
    • Operate dishwashers to wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, and flatware.
  • Food Preparation
    • Prepare, heat, and finish simple food items, such as sushi and other menu offerings.
    • Portion and wrap foods for service.
  • Inventory Management
    • Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
    • Keep accurate records of food quantities and inventory levels.
  • General Kitchen Duties
    • Stock refrigerators and salad bars with fresh ingredients.
    • Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foodstuffs.
    • Clean and sanitize the kitchen, including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances, and equipment.
    • Handle and store cleaning products safely.
    • Remove kitchen garbage and trash.
    • Sharpen kitchen knives and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
    • Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors to maintain a clean and safe environment.
    • Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruit for preparation.
    Work Environment and Physical Demands
    • Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
    Requirements and Qualifications
    • No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
    • Will train on the job.
    • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
    • English language proficiency.
    • Availability to work 30-40 hours per week.
