Aecon Utilities is a leading provider of utility construction services in Canada, committed to delivering projects that are Faster, Smarter, and Safer. We are proud to offer women career-building opportunities in the trades through hands-on training, mentorship, and field experience in our Utilities sector.
Program OverviewThe AWIT Program is designed to provide women with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the utility construction industry. The program includes hands-on training and orientation, introduction to Aecon and the Utilities sector, all requisite health and safety training, valuable job-specific skills training, and job placement as a Utility Labourer, Welder Apprentice, Damage Prevention Technician, and other trade positions as applicable.
What You'll Gain- Hands-on skills and industry experience
- Connection and networking opportunities with other women in the AWIT program and across Aecon
- Participation in debrief and evaluation sessions
- Safety-conscious attitude
- Team player
- Physical strength and stamina
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to use stairs, ladders, and climb over rough terrain
- Ability to work long hours per day sometimes in rough weather conditions
- Valid driver's license (G Class)
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Construction experience is an asset
- Eligibility to work in Canada
