We are looking for a Corporate Planning and Finance Director who can provide strategic leadership and direction to our department of 775 employees. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will be responsible for ensuring that each business unit service within the department is aligned with our mission to provide exceptional municipal public service to the residents of Calgary.

About the Role

This leadership position reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and requires a strong understanding of corporate planning and finance principles. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing inclusive leadership and direction to a department of approximately 775 employees, ensuring that each business unit service is consistent with our mission.

The Corporate Planning and Finance Director will be responsible for:

  • Leading and Developing Others: Through an inclusive leadership approach, develop people to meet both their career goals and the organization's goals, creating a development-focused culture and supporting others' development efforts.
  • Strategic Planning and Governance: Collaborate with the Chief Administrative Officer and Council to identify short-medium and long-term strategic priorities and lead the development of strategic, business, and operational plans.
  • Financial Management and Accountability: Ensure the financial capacity of the organization is effectively managed, taking overall responsibility for designing, developing, and delivering the organization's financial management and control strategy.
  • Performance Management and Risk Mitigation: Set and lead the delivery of annual and long-term departmental objectives, manage and report on performance, and take corrective action where necessary.
