Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general duties in the fabrication and Non-Ferrous metals shop, including operating basic hand tools, assisting machine operators and welders, material handling and general housekeeping to maintain a clean work site.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist in refurbishing SECURE's bins and containers using welding equipment.
  • Perform general welder helper duties such as grinding, buffing, and weld setup.
  • Support welders in completing their assigned tasks.
  • Work in the Non-Ferrous shop (loading, unloading, sorting, cutting, packaging, labeling, and cleaning materials).
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace by completing general housekeeping and organizing of the yard and facilities.
  • Participate in all safety-related meetings, including daily tailgates and last-minute risk assessments.
  • Perform other duties and project-based work as required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in scrap or torch cutting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of liquid oxygen, propane, and metallurgy would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to safely and correctly use and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Competence in operating skid steers, lifts, forklifts, and other small equipment.
  • Proficiency in hand tools and power equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including manual labor tasks, moving containers, and other heavy materials.
  • Adherence to SECURE's Workplace Health and Safety requirements relevant to the assigned work site.
  • Able to complete tasks with a sense of urgency while delivering safe and accurate results.
