Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including preparation and input of journal entries according to the monthly close schedule.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded properly on a monthly basis.
  • Account Reconciliations: Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
  • Cash Flow/Forecast Analysis: Assist in Cash Flow/Forecast analysis.
  • Process Improvements: Work with senior members of the team to implement process improvements.
  • Transaction Verification: Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions.
  • Month-End and Year-End Close: Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Financial Standards and Forecasting: Participate in the financial standards setting and in forecast process.
  • Departmental Goal-Setting: Provide input into department's goal-setting process.
  • Excel File Development: Assist senior members of the accounting team to create complex excel files.
  • Budget Variance Analysis: Analyze budget variances and effectively communicate the results.
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Perform ad hoc duties or other projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education in accounting at an intermediate level or an equivalent combination of education and accounting experience.
  • Professional Experience: Intermediate to late stages of a recognized accounting program (CPA), business degree (major in accounting) or a combination of education and experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles, experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process, excellent accounting software user and administration skills, accuracy and attention to detail, aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills, ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from Manager to accomplish objectives.
  • Language: Proficiency in both official languages (French/English) would be considered an asset.
Working Conditions

As a condition of employment, successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check. New hires must also complete a series of Occupational Health checks, including confirmation of immunization or immunity of specific communicable diseases.
