Job Title: Gladue Aftercare Caseworker

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Gladue Aftercare Caseworker to join our team at the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre.

Job Summary:

The Gladue Aftercare Caseworker will be responsible for providing support and guidance to Indigenous clients as they navigate the justice system. This includes assisting clients in following through with recommendations outlined in their Gladue Report, as well as providing referrals to relevant programs and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct services to Indigenous clients, including case management and support.
  • Make referrals to relevant programs and services, including those within the Friendship Centre and in the community.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to ensure effective delivery of the Gladue Aftercare Program.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to ensure the program is meeting its objectives.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in an Indigenous social or justice services environment.
  • Knowledge of the judicial system, Criminal Code, and other related federal and provincial statutes.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and history, with a particular emphasis on family violence, child welfare, incarceration, and the impacts of trauma.
  • Experience in program delivery, group facilitation, and administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients and community partners.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting and to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
