The Construction Project Leader role is based in Vancouver and typically reports to the Operations Manager or Division Manager.

  • Lead the assigned project with a focus on budget, timeline, quality, safety, and contract adherence.
  • Prepare and present project cost estimates and negotiate any necessary scope adjustments.
  • Set project goals, policies, procedures, and performance benchmarks in line with company standards and contract requirements.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including team members, clients, consultants, partners, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and the local community.
  • Plan, oversee, and manage the construction schedule and key milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Identify potential risks and address any issues proactively.
  • Ensure timely completion of financial forecasting and project checklists.
  • Deliver accurate productivity reports on a weekly basis.

Work Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years in a Project Management role within the construction sector, preferably with a contractor.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the utilities and/or civil engineering field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost estimation, strategic procurement, and negotiation.
  • Experience in project commissioning, integration, and quality assurance/control.
  • Familiarity with medium and high voltage utility projects, roadway lighting, traffic signals, and substations.
  • Experience with public-private partnership (P3) and/or design-build projects.
  • Background in wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) projects.

Education Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in relevant fields such as Red Seal Journeyman, Electrical Technologist, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
  • Certifications/Designations: P.Eng., PMP, Gold Seal Certification, and construction safety certifications.
  • Experience as a tradesperson in the electrical field may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

  • Proficient in contract management, construction scheduling, planning, execution, blueprint interpretation, financial analysis, utility practices, local labor regulations, and staff management.
  • Skilled in using MS Office (Word, Excel), Microsoft Project (mandatory), JD Edwards or Oracle-based ERP systems, and Bid2Win.
  • Willingness to travel within the province.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with a clean driving record.

The anticipated salary range for this position is between $92,000 and $125,000. The starting salary will be determined based on various factors, including qualifications and experience.
