Senior Instructor

As a Senior Instructor - Safety Skills, you will play a key role in the development of new company-initiated projects for deployment in the field. You will deliver internal and external training to customers and staff using specific course outlines, materials, and equipment designated by the safety consultant. Your responsibilities will include performing fall protection systems and fall protection/confined space equipment inspections following the HazSafeID program, including hazard assessments.
Responsibilities:- Lead and direct safety skills instructors in course delivery
- Assist in developing new company-initiated projects for deployment in the field
- Assist the safety consultant with the interview and selection process for new safety skills instructors
- Ensure Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards are updated regularly
- Develop customer safety programs and safe work procedures
- Perform fall protection system inspections as well as fall protection/confined space equipment inspections following the HazSafeID program
- Perform hazard assessments
- Train students using a systematic plan of lectures, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, shop sessions, seminars, case studies, field assignments, and independent or group projects and practical exercises
- Prepare, administer, and mark tests and papers, including practical exercises to evaluate students' progress
- Coordinate course logistics, including books, handouts, collateral material, samples, certificates, flights, hotels, and car rentals
- Supervise independent or group projects, field placements, work groups, or hands-on training
- May participate in the preparation of budgets, curriculum revision, and course and diploma requirements
- Establish and maintain relationships with local regulatory bodies and provide updates to local management
- Submit training documents and pictures to the branch administrative assistant upon course completion
- Liaise with the senior sales associate and safety consultant regarding training schedules
- Refer sales relating to equipment and service to the senior sales associate and business development team to provide further information or schedule training
- High School Degree or Equivalent required, Associates' degree preferred
- CRSP, CSC, CSO preferred
- 3 years required, 5 years preferred safety
- 3 years required, 5 years preferred adult education
- 3 years required, 5 years preferred safety equipment
- 3 years required, 5 years preferred customer relations and service
- Ability to prepare, administer, and mark tests/papers to evaluate students' progress
- Evaluate students' practical abilities to perform necessary safety tasks
- Ability to conduct safety equipment inspections and make pass/fail decisions
- Prepare teaching materials and course outlines
- Use audio-visual equipment
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent planning and organization skills
- Ability to adapt to diverse groups and learning styles
- Problem-solving and job task planning skills
- Outside Sales - Work is generally performed in an office environment, but the employee may need to travel to customer sites or warehouse facilities. Driving may be required for an extended period with frequent stops and starts. Can be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
