Postdoctoral Position in Microbiology

The Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Science at the University of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Fellow to collaborate with Dr. on a research project focused on mixed fermentation beer quality.

The successful applicant will be responsible for performing microbiological analyses on various samples and experiment types, including small-scale synthetic communities, production beer samples, and pilot-scale mixed fermentation experiments at the University of Alberta's Agri-Food Discovery Place.

We are looking for an individual with a strong background in fermentation, preferably with experience in larger-scale fermentations and bioinformatics analysis. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Blind Enthusiasm Brewing Company on sample collection and result communication while collaborating with the labs of Dr. Wendy Wismer to investigate how microbial community dynamics influence the quality of complex fermentations.

This appointment offers a competitive salary of $50,000 per year. The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field and possess proficiency in molecular and classical microbiological techniques.
