Job Opportunity: Rural Psychiatrist

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join our team at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador. As a Rural General Psychiatrist, you will work collaboratively with family physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychiatric services to patients in the community, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Participate in on-call duties for the local emergency department and consultation liaison services for non-psychiatric inpatients.
  • Facilitate patient stabilization and transfer to Grand Falls-Windsor as needed.

Requirements:

  • Eligible for registration and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Satisfy credentialing requirements of Central Health.
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
  • A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
