Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Physical Education Teacher to join our team at Tustukeeskaws Jr./Sr. High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching physical education to students in grades 7-12.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging physical education programs that promote physical activity, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a comprehensive and well-rounded education for students.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in physical education.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and programs related to physical education.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Education degree with a major or minor in Physical Education.
  • Valid Alberta Interim Professional Teaching Certificate or Alberta Permanent Professional Teaching Certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching physical education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, including students, parents, and administration.
  • Knowledge of the Alberta Education Act and the Alberta Program of Studies.
  • Understanding of local culture and traditions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Indigenous students and communities.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace and other educational technology tools.
  • Excellent computer skills.
