Maintenance Operations Manager

UniFirst Corporation is seeking a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team.

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of facility equipment and identifying areas for process improvement. You will work closely with the production team to develop and implement maintenance schedules, and oversee the training and development of maintenance staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems
  • Inspect and operate equipment to identify malfunctions
  • Perform basic welding activities to effect repairs
  • Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated control systems
  • Perform and assign all preventive maintenance on facility and production assets
  • Follow blueprints, schematics, operations manuals, and manufacturer's instructions
  • Manage and assign all equipment maintenance, including repairs outside of standard hours
  • Assume responsibility for all shifts in the maintenance department
  • Oversee and implement all maintenance-related regulatory and environmental compliance requirements
  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of safety within the maintenance department
  • Perform Confined Space and Lockout/Tagout procedures as required
  • Monitor the training status of technicians and provide time for required training
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Partner with the Production Manager to develop and manage the budget for building, equipment, capital expenditures, and parts/labor
  • Train and develop maintenance staff

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid non-commercial driver's license
  • High school diploma or GED required; two-year technical degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment required; applicable military experience considered
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel preferred
  • Maintenance administration experience, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, and maintenance management systems required
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics required
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Experience using Hand & Power tools required
  • Lockout/Tagout experience required
  • HVAC experience, general boiler knowledge, and basic welding equipment knowledge preferred
  • Certification applicable to reliability preferred, such as CPMM, CMRP, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
  • Ability to work overtime as needed required
