Job Summary

The City of Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled Communications Coordinator II – Engineering (Senior Communications Specialist) to join our Corporate Communications team. This role will work on a variety of strategic communications projects and campaigns on behalf of various Engineering divisions, including Water and Utilities Management, Urban Watersheds, and Sewers and Drainage.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement multi-channel communications plans to engage diverse community groups and promote key initiatives and programs.
  • Research, write, produce, and disseminate a wide range of communications materials, including news releases, social media content, advertising campaigns, and presentations.
  • Provide communications advice to various client areas, including the Water and Utilities Management, Urban Watersheds, and Sewers and Drainage divisions.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of consultants involved with various programs and projects.
  • Establish and maintain effective liaison and working relationships with internal and external contacts, including the media, government agencies, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • University graduation with a degree in journalism, communications, or a related discipline, plus considerable related experience on public-facing campaigns focused on behavior change and experience working with and communicating to diverse community groups.
  • Demonstration of learning related to and/or experience working on Reconciliation projects considered an asset.
