Job Summary

Volker Stevin Contracting is seeking a skilled Asphalt Rakerman to join our paving crew. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our asphalt paving equipment and maintaining the quality of our road construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Redistribute asphalt mix correctly as it leaves the screed and prepare it for rolling.
  • Operate an asphalt rake to re-distribute asphalt mix, leaving the screed in preparation for rolling.
  • Shovel up excess asphalt and sweep up debris to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Verify and set the angle and depth of the asphalt screed as required.
  • Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
  • Ensure the worksite is organized and free of rubble and garbage.
  • Perform a variety of manual labor tasks, including the use of power and hand tools.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Class 5 Driver's License and a clean Driver's Abstract.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in asphalt raking on a paving crew.
  • Demonstrate a proficient understanding of asphalt and raking techniques.
  • Knowledge of paving construction methods, asphalt and road construction materials, heavy equipment operation, and industry requirements.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Valid Class 5 Operator's License and a clean Driver Abstract.
  • Willingness to work out of town and in remote locations, as required.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
