Estimator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Steel Art Signs. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in preparing accurate and detailed estimates for our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimate Labour and Material Costs: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs for our construction projects.
  • Prepare Master Format Estimates: Prepare master format estimates (Class A) for our clients.
  • Prepare Elemental Format Estimates: Prepare elemental format estimates (Classes B, C, D) for our clients.
  • Operate CADD and Computer Software: Operate CADD and other computer software systems to support estimating activities.
  • Provide Economic Feasibility Studies: Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects.
  • Project Cash Flow and Financing: Project cash flow and financing requirements for our clients.
  • Create and Submit Estimate Reports: Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bids forms for our clients.
  • Utilize Quantity Take-Off Procedures: Utilize quantity take-off procedures to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Advise on Tendering Procedures: Advise on tendering procedures for our clients.
  • Analyze Tenders and Recommend Awards: Analyze tenders and recommend awards for our clients.
  • Set Up Cost Monitoring and Reporting Systems: Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems to track project expenses.
  • Monitor and Adjust Contract Expenditures: Monitor and adjust contract expenditures to ensure project stays within budget.
  • Prepare and Maintain Directory of Supplies and Trade Contractors: Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors for our clients.
  • Liaise with Engineers, Architects, and Contractors: Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints, Maps, Drawings, and Specifications: Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate estimates.
Requirements:
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in estimating or a related field.
  • Language: English language proficiency required.
  • Work Setting: Estimating, staff accommodation available.
