Job Title: Family Access Worker

Job Summary:

The Family Access Worker will provide support to the child welfare team, working collaboratively with families and communities to ensure the safety and well-being of children. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a deep understanding of Anishinabek culture and traditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor court-ordered access visits between natural caregivers and children in alternative care settings.
  • Support and encourage families to create a safe and nurturing environment for their children.
  • Transport families and children to relevant services, community visits, and activities to achieve case plan objectives.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in the social services field.
  • One year of direct experience in a social services agency.
  • Knowledge of Niijaansinaanik Child and Family Services programs and services.
  • Respect for, sensitivity towards, and knowledge of Anishinabek culture, traditions, and the Seven Grandfather Teachings.
  • Basic knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
  • Knowledge of First Nation service delivery, customs, and traditions in responding to child welfare.
  • Knowledge of external services and service agencies.
