Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laborer to join our team at Quick Scrap Metal. As a Laborer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general physical activities, including loading, unloading, sorting, and moving shipments by hand and/or using material handling equipment.
  • Keep the plant clean and free from debris, hazardous, or obsolete materials.
  • Operate crane machines safely and efficiently.
  • Shunt inbound and outbound loads to and from the yard.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks.
  • Assist with setting up and transferring material and equipment.
  • Conduct general maintenance to ensure equipment is clean and organized.
  • Report any issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.
  • Set up machines prior to running jobs and assist operators.
  • Comply with all safety protocols and procedures and adhere to all company practices, procedures, codes of conduct, and participate in all Health and Safety training conducted by the company.
Requirements
  • Experience in the steel fabrication industry is an asset.
  • Overhead cranes experience is an asset (training available).
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a positive attitude and flexible work style.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean workplace without compromise.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well independently and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including carrying and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands

The individual should be able to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting all safety requirements. The work assigned must be completed correctly and in a timely manner. The individual must physically be able to carry and lift materials up to 50 pounds.
