As a Community Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication between Deaf and hearing individuals.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English, ensuring accurate and clear communication.
- Work effectively in a team environment, receiving support from and providing support to colleagues.
- Provide excellent customer service, maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleagues.
- Meet performance and customer service expectations with minimal supervision.
- Enhance interpreting skills through continuing education and training.
- Comply with Sorenson Communications attendance requirements and represent the company brand when interacting with customers.
- Ability to pass a required skills assessment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred but not required).
- Interpreter certification.
- Years of experience working as an interpreter (preferred but not required).
- Ability to travel independently in the metropolitan area, with access to a vehicle, valid driver's license, and minimum state-required vehicle insurance.

Sorenson Communications, LLC offers Video Relay Service (VRS), which gives Deaf individuals who use American Sign Language (ASL) and hearing people the option to communicate in their preferred language - either ASL or spoken English or Spanish.
