About the Role:

The Entry-Level Safety Professional position at Western Pacific Enterprises is designed to introduce the candidate to the electrical construction safety field. This role will work under the direct supervision of experienced safety leaders, gaining valuable hands-on experience and knowledge in project safety.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform daily pre-shift and post-shift safety checks
  • Store site safety forms in appropriate software and maintain accurate records
  • Assist in creating a system for communicating safety and health issues, including general employee meetings, formal training sessions, and posting safety communications
  • Support district safety committees by coordinating and monitoring their activities
  • Conduct regular job site visits to identify unsafe work conditions and practices, review Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA), and make recommendations for improvement
  • Document and communicate site visit information
  • Coordinate supplemental inspections whenever new processes, equipment, substances, or hazards are introduced
  • Verify that corrective measures are completed based on safety committee, insurance carrier, and other consultant recommendations
  • Participate in reviewing and completing corrective actions for injury and illness investigation reports
  • Regular and predictable attendance is essential
  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and industry-specific professional standards
  • Other duties may be assigned

About You:

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in construction or electrical construction is preferred
  • A minimum of 1 year of construction safety experience in Canada is required
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification is mandatory; British Columbia certification is highly valued
  • A high school diploma or GED is necessary

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to travel for job site visits and extended periods
  • Tolerance for inclement weather
  • Proficiency working with computers and Microsoft Suite software
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
