Nurse Practitioner

Inpatient Surgery is recruiting for newly graduated Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team. This is a temporary part-time position pursuant to Transitional Graduate Nurse Recruitment Program (TGNRP) provisions. We are looking for individuals who have or will graduate with a Baccalaureate of Nursing within the 12 months prior to commencement of the TGNRP and who have NOT already obtained a full-time or part-time position with Alberta Health Services. Applicants must be eligible for registration (including temporary permit) with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). This program is intended for new (within the past year) nursing graduates and is not open to individuals with previous nursing experience who have completed programs such as the Bridge to Canadian Nursing Program or the nursing refresher program following an absence of five years or more or a more advanced nursing degree. The TGN shall work under the guidance of a member of the health care team. The TGN provides input in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, preventing illness, injury and disability or supporting a peaceful death. These positions are supernumerary in nature until such time as the TGN is determined to be ready to independently assume the full scope of RN or RPN practice or a maximum duration of 3 months.
Description:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $ - $ Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Current CRNA/CRPNA registration (including temporary permits). Graduate with a Baccalaureate of Nursing within last 12 months from an approved school of nursing. Not currently in a full-time or part-time position with Alberta Health Services.
