Faculty Position in Israeli Studies

The University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts & Science invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Israeli Studies. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

About the Position

The successful candidate will be appointed to either the Department of Political Science or the Department of Sociology (51%) dependent upon their area of expertise, and hold a minority appointment in the Anne Tanenbaum Centre for Jewish Studies (49%).

Responsibilities
  • Pursue innovative and independent research in areas pertaining to the study of Israel.
  • Establish an outstanding, competitive research program.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the study of Israel.
  • Contribute to the Faculty of Arts & Science's undergraduate and graduate education.
Requirements
  • PhD in any social science discipline or related fields.
  • Research and teaching portfolio with a substantial focus on modern Israel and a scholarly connection to the field of Jewish Studies.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.
