About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team at BBA Consultants. As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering services to our clients in the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preliminary and detailed engineering design of electrical systems, including single-line diagrams, block diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
  • Perform load calculations, voltage drop/cable sizing calculations, and cable tray filling and cable pulling calculations.
  • Develop engineering specifications, design basis, and design philosophies for electrical systems.
  • Review equipment shop drawings and participate in the preparation of feasibility studies.
  • Prepare engineering service estimates and support developing proposals.
  • Supervise and provide mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Visit construction/plant sites and fabrication shops during the design phase.
  • Meet with clients to advise on potential solutions and support scoping their CAPEX projects.
  • Provide construction support and perform pre-commissioning and start-up activities for electrical systems.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree in electrical engineering and license in Ontario.
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in mining and infrastructure of underground and open-pit mines in a multi-discipline consulting engineering environment.
  • Proficient in LV, MV, and HV power distribution system design, substation design, electrical arrangements, motor controls, protection, and control systems.
  • Experience in developing design criteria and engineering specifications.
  • Practical experience in performing electrical studies, including grounding, protection coordination, short circuit, load flow, harmonics, and arc flash.
  • Good knowledge of electrical design standards/codes, including CSA, IEEE, ANSI/IEC, and provincial and regional standards/codes.
  • Field experience through on-site surveys, construction support, commissioning activities.
  • Ability to establish sound working relationships with co-workers, partners, clients, and administrators.
