Job Summary

To assist the classroom teacher in the education of students with exceptionalities, the Durham District School Board is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the teacher in the teaching and learning process, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Prepare classroom materials and equipment as directed, maintaining a well-organized and efficient workspace.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date class and student records, charts, and files, as directed by the teacher.
  • Provide general pupil supervision, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Supervise, observe, and correct students' behavior, as directed by the teacher.
  • Instruct and assist students with basic life skills, promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Provide physical assistance to students, as needed, to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Assist in the integration of students into a program, promoting socialization and inclusion.
  • Support the physical development of students, as directed by the teacher.
  • Accompany and assist students in their job placements, promoting work readiness and employability skills.
  • Provide physical and other assistance to students, as needed, to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Assist with the education of students who are blind, deaf, or non-verbal, promoting equal access to education.
