Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Professional Engineering year (PEY) Student. This exciting opportunity will provide you with the chance to work in a dynamic environment where you will contribute to OPG's public outreach, engagement, and education efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical specialists to support the generation of various systems.
  • Contribute to the overall objective of achieving an integrated environment dedicated to the safe and reliable operation of OPG's plants.
  • Assist with developing and executing projects in compliance with the nuclear industry's demanding set of regulations and standards using established project management processes.
  • Maintain written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems.
Requirements
  • Pursuing an Engineering or Applied Science undergraduate degree on a full-time basis.
  • By the start of the opportunity, will have completed 3rd year of a 4-year program or 4th year of a 5-year program.
  • Have a minimum average of 70% cGPA (B-).
  • Be returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term.
  • Meet the minimum Internship or Co-op Program eligibility requirements as defined by your academic institution.
  • Be enrolled in one of the following Engineering and Applied Science disciplines:
    • Civil
    • Electrical
    • Mechanical
Qualifications
  • Structural engineering courses and experience (Civil position).
  • Sound fundamental knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Aptitude in numerical analysis.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and trouble-shoot.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and inter-personal communication skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
