At Vancouver Airport Authority, we are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Fleet Maintenance department, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of mobile and portable equipment. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the continued success and future vision of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and repairing emergency rescue and operations vehicles and equipment, including fire trucks, air stairs, and emergency response light vehicles.
  • Maintaining and repairing summer operations vehicles and equipment, such as mowers, backhoes, excavators, and road maintenance equipment.
  • Maintaining and repairing winter operations vehicles and equipment for snow and ice control.
  • Maintaining and repairing specialty equipment and tooling.
  • Planning, scheduling, and organizing work area and facility.
  • Leading activities and sharing knowledge with assigned apprentices.

Requirements:

  • Three years' recent, related experience, supplemented by the completion of a Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic (TTM) or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently, with little supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make safety a top priority.
  • Valid BC driver's license (Class 1 preferred, minimum Class 3 with air brake endorsement).
