Primary Health Care Specialist Opportunity
Nova Scotia Health is seeking a certified Physician Assistant to join our Primary Health Care team. As a member of our dynamic collaborative care team, you will provide comprehensive, continuous, and coordinated primary care to patients across the lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain health history as appropriate, including patient demographics
- Conduct comprehensive and focused physical assessments and interpret findings
- Utilize primary and secondary assessment results to formulate a differential diagnosis and determine if further clinical investigation is required
- Order preliminary diagnostic testing and follow-up; with interpretation of results
- Formulate a treatment and management plan based on assessment and investigation results, availability of services, and special needs of the patient
- Implement effective treatment plans that include preventive and therapeutic interventions, demonstrating appropriate procedural skills, as determined by the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants Scope of Practice and National Competency Profile, and the supervising physician
- Collaborate with and seek appropriate consultation from the supervising physician and other health professionals involved in the patient's care

Requirements
- Graduate of or currently enrolled in an accredited recognized Physician Assistant program in Canada or the United States
- Certification through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council (PACC) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Eligible for license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA)
- Medical Liability Insurance Required
- BLSC Certification
- Must have recent clinical experience in family medicine in the workplace or as part of clinical training
- Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, patient assessment, and telecommunication skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
