Job Title: Director of Technology

Job Summary:

The Enterprise Architecture team plays a pivotal role in defining the technological and structural direction of Scotiabank. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, governing, and driving the global technology strategy for the Bank.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess current capabilities and develop technology strategies that align with the company's business goals.
  • Ensure IT systems and infrastructure deliver value and drive innovation.
  • Lead the execution of key initiatives, collaborating closely with technology teams to bring the strategy to fruition.
  • Work with Senior leadership, business partners, and other technology stakeholders to develop vision, strategy, and focus areas for transformation.
  • Lead the prioritization and development of implementation roadmaps to address gaps and ensure solutions are in line with enterprise vision.
  • Lead one or more large-scale technology initiatives from inception to execution, working with technology teams across the Bank.
  • Work with teams to develop viable business cases focusing on moving towards target state technology architecture and capabilities.
  • Provide guidance to project delivery teams to develop integrated project plans, including adequate work breakdown structure, key inter-dependencies, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Stakeholder Management: Present and communicate with our CTO, engineering heads, and other senior leaders on an ongoing basis to gather feedback, report progress, and solve issues.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or technology/architecture leadership, including significant experience as a Project Lead or Engagement Manager.
  • Focus on technology consulting in the banking domain is an asset.
  • Prior experience and deep knowledge within the technology domain is a must (e.g., IT & Digital strategy, operating model, enterprise architecture, complex technology delivery, IT innovation).
  • Good knowledge of the specific technology challenges relevant to the Banking industry, with a sound understanding of current banking business trends and their implications for technology.
  • Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to discern research information/data and focus on critical business issues.
  • Highly developed relationship management skills to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, partners, and external vendors.
  • Proven track record delivering innovative solutions from concept to change management.
  • Undergraduate degree in business or engineering; graduate business degree/MBA is a strong asset.
  • Excellent knowledge with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
