Painter/Finisher

This Painter/Finisher position is a key role in our manufacturing team, responsible for applying coatings and finishes to various products while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret work instructions, engineering criteria, and prints of assemblies to ensure accurate coating and finishing processes.
- Set up and operate powered and manual equipment to meet OSHA and company safety standards.
- Complete work orders, filling in time spent and quantity of parts completed.
- Fill out daily reporting sheets to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Coating and Finishing:
Apply a wide range of coatings and finishes to products, adhering to quality standards and company procedures.
Coating and Finishing:
Prepare and clean surfaces prior to coating, checking paint viscosity and film thickness, and filling paint pressure pots as required.
Metal Finishing:
Responsible for grinding, sanding, and polishing metal products to achieve a smooth finish, using hand tools and power tools as needed.
Metal Finishing:
Deburr, buff, or polish materials to meet QA-approved specifications, ensuring high-quality finishes.
Silk Screening:
Screen a variety of products while maintaining compliance with quality and ISO standards, ensuring accurate and consistent results.
Silk Screening:
Match raw materials to work orders, peel protective coatings from parts, and check for scratches, dents, or malformations according to company quality standards.
Silk Screening:
Mix ink products for dispensing, set up silk screen tables with correct templates and screens, and run ovens at correct temperatures for screening parts.
Silk Screening:
Complete first-offs and check quality according to company quality standards, ensuring high-quality results.
- Maintain WHMIS labels, ensuring they are readable and up-to-date.
- Dispose of chemicals safely and in accordance with company standards.
- Perform regular maintenance, cleaning, and simple troubleshooting of spray or finishing equipment, replacing booth filters as needed.
- Rotate between paint booth, finishing station, and assembly positions as necessary.
- Report problems with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to the Manufacturing Supervisor or team lead.
- Red tag scrap and record.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area according to 5S principles, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and serviced.
- Continuously improve Lean knowledge and apply tools to identify and assist with process improvements.
Education & Experience:
- High School or GED, or - 5 years relevant manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 1 year previous spray paint, silk screening experience required, or 1 year metal finishing experience.
- Basic computer skills an asset.
- Able to work from verbal and/or written instructions with minimal supervision.
- Good hand-eye coordination required.
- Able to work in a fast-paced sheet metal environment.
- Eye for detail, high level of concentration and focus required.
- Good dexterity and some lifting (up to 40 pounds).
- Must be clean-shaven every day to wear a respirator.
