Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze client eyeglasses or contact lenses using optical measuring devices
  • Obtain specifications for eyeglasses and contact lenses from prescriptions
  • Supervise or manage activities of other opticians or student opticians
  • Advise clients on use and care of contact lenses
  • Arrange for grinding or polishing of lenses
  • Adjust finished eyeglasses to fit clients
Requirements
  • Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
  • 1-2 years of experience in optics or optical sciences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately
