Chief Information Officer for Healthcare IT

Venor partners with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) to drive technology strategy for the International Medical Graduate Assessment Centre, a pioneering healthcare initiative.
This unique project combines an Orientation Program, Assessment Centre, and medical clinic, making it a national leader in addressing healthcare challenges. As Chief Information Officer for Healthcare IT, you will lead the development, implementation, and management of all technology and information systems for the Assessment Centre.
Detailed Responsibilities:- Strategic IT Leadership:
- Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to establish an IT strategy aligning with CPSNS's goals and priorities.
- Evaluate existing tools and platforms for integration and streamlining to meet organizational needs.
- Ensure IT initiatives deliver measurable value and comply with regulatory standards.
- Advise on emerging technology trends and their operational impacts.
- Affordable Care Development:
- Design, implement, and manage IT systems for the new Assessment Centre.
- Develop secure, scalable infrastructure for operational and data governance needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align technology solutions with objectives.
- Implement AI and automation tools in clinical and office environments.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Ensure reliability and integration of EMR (MedAccess) and other clinical software and assessment tools.
- Technology Operations:
- Optimize existing IT systems to meet current and future needs.
- Maintain data integrity, security, and availability.
- Work with departmental leads to identify technology needs and implement efficiency-enhancing tools.
- Develop and monitor service-level agreements with IT vendors.
- Develop and monitor cybersecurity protocols and threats.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Liaise between IT and business units to address operational and strategic requirements.
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to SLT on IT performance, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery plan ensuring critical IT systems are backed up and can be restored in case of an interruption.
- Conduct periodic assessments of business continuity plans to ensure readiness.
- 15+ years in IT leadership roles with a proven track record of developing and executing IT strategies in dynamic organizations.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience and education.
- Must have experience in healthcare, regulatory, or similarly complex environments.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, system integration, and data management.
- Expertise in IT security, compliance, and disaster recovery planning.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive strategic initiatives, and foster collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills to engage stakeholders and translate business needs into technical solutions.
The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience, along with a comprehensive health benefit package, retirement savings program, and hybrid work setup that balances office and remote days to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
