Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join our Long Term Care team at Evergreen House at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of designated occupational therapists and physiotherapists to carry out established rehabilitative activities in occupational therapy and physiotherapy scope of practices.
  • Implement lower-risk interventions related to clinical aspects of OT/PT care plans.
  • Teach activities and adapt devices to enable patients to maximize their potential for independence.
  • Provide functional direction to patients and families, and assist with practicing daily living skills.
  • Report relevant observations of patient progress and behaviors.
  • Provide direction to volunteers and maintain established inventory of supplies.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
