About the Role:

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Cranbrook, BC. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing commercial motor vehicles according to DOT regulations and Company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executing preventative maintenance, including basic vehicle servicing to engine or transmission overhaul.
  • Diagnosing and repairing operational difficulties with heavy duty trucks and equipment.
  • Completing reports, work orders, ordering parts, and performing other administrative duties.
  • Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procuring all parts for successful plans.
  • Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinating repair schedules.
  • Completing other responsibilities as requested by management.
  • Attending to service calls as needed or emergent situations in the field.
  • Cleaning up work areas.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a mechanic.
  • Computer literacy, with the ability to be trained on software systems and a willingness to learn.
  • Meeting relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
  • Using diagnostic software a plus.
  • Following detailed instructions and maintaining accurate records.
  • Operating any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Possessing physical ability to perform all aspects of the job.
