About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team at Walters Group, a family-owned steel construction company with over 65 years of experience. As a Welder, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and fitting structural steel, as well as operating welding equipment and ensuring safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, assemble, and fit structural steel according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Operate welding equipment, including flux-cored arc welding and sub-arc welding.
  • Set up and operate various equipment, such as torches, drills, and clamping tools.
  • Mentor apprentices and junior fitters by sharing knowledge and safe work practices.
  • Ensure safe work practices are adhered to and appropriate PPE is worn at all times.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of welding experience, preferably in structural steel fabrication.
  • Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program in metal fabrication or welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes and other heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
