Resource Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Resource Nurse to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a key member of our Emergency Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise with Inter-Professional Teams: Collaborate with discharge and access coordinators, admitting staff, and other members of the inter-professional team to coordinate bed assignments and ensure a coordinated approach to patient discharge and transfer.
- Utilize Resources Effectively: Work with inter-professional teams, including home and community care, to utilize available resources in the most efficient and effective manner possible, promoting patient flow and a positive patient experience.
- Ensure Narcotic and Controlled Substance Activities: Ensure that narcotic and controlled substance activities are resolved prior to the completion of each unique shift, including discrepancies, scheduled counts, and shift reports.
- Therapeutic Relationship with Physicians: Work with and maintain a therapeutic relationship with physician team members.
- Emergency Preparedness: Maintain current knowledge of emergency preparedness protocols and procedures and the appropriate responses to emergency codes.
- Lead During Emergency Codes: Act as the lead during emergency codes, which may involve reporting to the command center and serving as the fire warden for the inpatient area.
- Facilitate Bed/Room Cleaning and Patient Transport: Liaise with the environmental services team and/or the access and flow coordinator to facilitate timely bed/room cleaning and patient transport.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current Registration: Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum five years recent experience practicing as an registered nurse with exemplary clinical skills in emergency required, and minimum two years recent leadership experience, directly supervising others required.
- Certifications: Current Heart and Stroke Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certificate required, Coronary Care 1 required, and Coronary Care 2 preferred.
- Osler's Values: Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration.
- Clinical Expertise: Possess clinical expertise and demonstrated exemplary clinical practice with the following up-to-date courses required: current Trauma Nursing Core course, Emergency Nursing Pediatric course, Emergency Nursing Certified Canada certificate, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications.
