Job Summary

The Nurse Specialist at Brightshores will be responsible for assessing perioperative patient needs and providing safe and adequate care. This role requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess perioperative patient needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Provide safe and adequate care to patients in the operating room
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers

Requirements

  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
  • Successful completion of the Operating Room certificate and/or at least two years of OR experience in the last three years
  • Ability to scrub and circulate in all services
  • Knowledge of current ORNAC standards
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment
  • Ability to function as a team member
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to flex time to meet unit's needs
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
  • Ability to respond to urgent/emergency situations
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
  • Adherence to Brightshores' CARE Behaviours and LEAD Competencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Perioperative Nursing Certification
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing
