Job Description:

The Maintenance Manager facilitates the overall maintenance function of the Port Alberni Mill (Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation). The primary goal is to sustain the level of preservation of the mill and its equipment, ensuring reliability and containing costs through effective resource allocation.

The role involves:

  • Participating in trades personnel recruitment, assessing job performance, and assisting in training and development.
  • Developing departmental budgets, prioritizing spending, and advising senior management on cost overruns and exceptional equipment requisitions.
  • Ensuring conformance to the Standard Labour Contract and Company policies.
  • DIRECTING Maintenance Supervisors and tradesmen in implementing Mill safety programs and environmental policies.
  • Liaising with union representatives to settle grievances and address contracting out issues.
